Chitrakatha'19 is started today !!!

With the MOO in full swing, joy and excitement fills the atmosphere as the guests, delegates and students come together to celebrate chitrakatha '19 !!!

Here's, Chitkhabri Chitrakatha'19's official newsletter

“I can hardly express my feelings and my gratitude to the Chitrakatha Festival. because Chitrakatha is longer more than a festival: it is a deep human experience in which friendship, love, creativity and stories from far, mix together. I consider Sekhar as a brother, and his wife Sudanhya and his daughter Abonti part of my family. With them is easy to conceive a world whitout borders. I also think that for students, for audiences, for teachers, for participants is an extraordinary occasion to express their passion, their dreams freely. During Chitrakatha I always feel at home surrounded by a big, extended, crazy and nice family. Thanks you from the deepest part of my heart.”

Gianmarco Serra
Composer, Filmmaker

“Chitrakatha is the best design festival to come out this year! In its 7th edition the animation festival is evolved to a truly holistic design fest destination. It is our pleasure to be involved with such a great initiative and be a part of something that directly inspires!”

Prateek Sethi
NID Alumni, Communication Designer

“Dearest Chitrakatha team,
We are packing, printing out boarding passes, excited and happy looking forward being there with you!! Throughout the years Chitrakatha has given shape to its nomadic and eclectic character,  collecting  languages, colours,  places and experiences form all over the world. I imagine Chitrakatha 19 at the NID campus of Amaravati as a bustling Babel tower where everything is possible, any dream can take place. Cheers Chitrakatha 2019 !!

Lots of love for my dear Sekhar, Sudanhya, Abonti, Chewang and all of the new members of  the Chitrakatha family.”

Isabel Herguera
Animation Director

“Dear Students, dear Staff, dear Sekhar
I am very much looking forward to my virgin visit to India. From my virtual traveling via Google Maps, I see a beautiful Land around Vijayawada, a rich culture and a vibrating spirit around the NID campus. Of course, as a Sound lecturer, i’m even more interested in the sonic Soundscapes around Vijayawada, the richness of Sound in the Atmosphere. In our workshop, we will explore those Soundscapes together, a great honour to be part of this year’s Festival.

Best”

Thomas Grassmann
Sound Designer

“Once again sisters and brothers of the bovine gather to celebrate our Chitrakatha, but this time the field has moved from pasture grass to sea grass! What new stories to tell on this "coast of Coromandel where they early pumpkins blow" as we trace the epic tale of India's journey across the oceans to build the world’s highest mountains, and turning grazers of grass into fish nibblers and crill sifters? In the spirit of our great forebears Edward Lear and Sukumar Ray, let us together celebrate with joy the past that all can share pride in. Together we will translate the story the subcontinent herself tells us in ways that will make the whole world take note. This is where it starts, right here at Chitrakatha, led by Sekhar-da and his wonderful team of gauchas/gauchos.”

Dr Nigel Hughes
Palaeontologist & Storyteller

“A new sun is rising in the East and it's a joy to be there to watch it grow! The campus is raring with the energy of a young storm cloud - and I'm happy to be here just in time to let the madness rain on one and all! Eager to see the new avtaar of a timeless festival. Loads of love, Chitrakatha - milestone of hope in our fraternity.”

“Once upon a Chitrakatha.....

Film festivals often find its celebratory context in stories/kathas told though a medium on screen. Chitrakatha is an exception where the stories developed while preparing for the festival is more fascinating and meaningful especially when students are engaged. The energy levels are something else. I know that everyone involved had a katha to remember, a katha to tell the world...I too have a katha from the Himalayas to tell. See you soon.”
